本種は今のところ本州のみから知られている。寄主植物はアザミ類の花。世界に広く分布するT. treherneiは本種によく似るが、寄主植物はタンポポ類の花でオスはメス同様に暗褐色（本種のオスは淡色）。

This species is known from Honshu so far. It breeds on the flowers of Cirsium species. [Asteraceae]. T. trehernei, which is widespread in the world including Japan, is very similar to this species but it breeds on the flowers of Taraxacum species. [Asteraceae] and the male is dark brown as the female (male is pale in this species).
